She is co-author of more than 150 scientific papers and of various books, moreover is referee in various journals.
Several covers of the scientific journals Complexity and International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos have been dedicated to research papers published by Eleonora Bilotta.
Moreover, Prof. Bilotta has been invited by Prof. Leon O. Chua, Editor in chief of the International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, to prepare a series of papers with the title "The Gallery of Chua's Attractors", published on six consecutive journal issues, since January 2007.
She collaborates in various national and international projects. Prof. Eleonora Bilotta is member of several national and international scientific community and is director of the ESG
(Evolutionary Systems Group).
She is in the scientific board of various conference and organized many conferences and workshops.
Eleonora Bilotta is full professor of Psychology at the Phisycs Department, University of Calabria (Italy), and is the vice-coordinator of the Ph.D Course in Science, Engineering of Environment, Construction, and Energy.
Her research interests concern various scientific topics from an interdisciplinary point of view and comprise the following areas:
• Cognitive Psychology and Intelligent systems in Education;
• Educational Technologies;
• Teaching and Learning;
• Animal and Human Behaviour;
• Human Computer Interaction;
• Psychology of Programming;
• Psychology of Music;
• Artificial Life.
She is co-author of more than 150 scientific papers and of various books. Several covers of the scientific journals Complexity and International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos are dedicated to research papers published by Eleonora Bilotta. In particular:
1) Cover of issue 8-3, 2003, Complexity;
2) Cover of issue 9-1, 2003, Complexity;
3) Cover of issue 15-2, 2005, International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos;
4) Cover of issue 16-3, 2006, International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos.
Moreover, Prof. Bilotta was invited by Prof. Leon O. Chua, Editor in chief of the International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, to prepare a series of papers with the title "The Gallery of Chua's Attractors" (published on six consecutive journal issues since January 2007).
She collaborated in various national and international projects. In the national domain, she was the responsible of the local unit of the International Interuniversity Cooperation research group “Robotics as Educational tool”.
Prof. Bilotta was also the national coordinator of the Research Project of National Interest (PRIN) on "Mathematical Modelling of natural and artificial behavior", which had the aim of unifying interdisciplinary competences and defining methods and instruments for the understanding of intelligent behavior in biological and artificial domains.
In the international domain, she was the director of the Work package5 (WP5) "Realization of an E-learning platform" in the COMSON project (Coupled Multiscale Simulation and Optimisation in Nanoelectronics), funded by the European Union in the Marie Curie/ RTN (Research Training Network) actions. The project was coordinated by Prof. M. Guenther of Bergische Universität in Wuppertal, and the other nodes were: “Politehnica” University of Bucharest, University of Catania, TU Eindhoven, Qimonda AG (former Infineon Technologies Munich), NXP (former Philips Research Laboratories Eindhoven), STMicroelectronics Catania, University of Calabria. The main objective of the Consortium was the realization of an experimental Demonstrator Platform in software code, which comprised coupled simulation of devices, interconnects, circuits, EM fields and thermal effects in one single framework. The Consortium used the Demonstrator Platform as a framework to test mathematical methods and approaches, as well as to assess whether they were capable of addressing the industry's problems, and to adequately educate young researchers by hands-on experience on state-of-the-art problems.
Moreover, Prof. Bilotta took part in the "Mathematical Models and Applications to Microelectronics" project, financed by MIUR in the field of "Programs for improving the internationalization process of the Italian Universitary system" (D.M. 5 agosto 2004 n. 262 - ART. 23) – International Interuniversity Collaborations – Program 2004-2006 . The project had the following national and international partners:
University of Catania, Department of Mathematics and Informatics and Department of Electronics and Systems; University of Florence Department of Applicative Mathematics “G. Sansone”; Politecnico of Turin, Department of Electronics; Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Fachbereich Mathematik, GERMANY ; Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, NETHERLANDS; Technische Universität Wien, Institute for Analysis and Scientific Computing, AUSTRIA; Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Fachbereich Mathematik GERMANY; Universität Mainz, Fachbereich Mathematik und Informatik, GERMANY; University of California at Berkeley, Electronics Research Laboratory, UNITED STATES; Chapman University (Orange, CA – USA). The research activity of this project was devoted on Applied Mathematics in electronic industry and in particular on the theoretical development, the study and the numerical implementation of mathematical models for: i) new applications of electronic industry to secure communication; ii) new phenomena showing up in the transition from micro- to nano-electronics.
Prof. Eleonora Bilotta is member of several national and international scientific communities, is the director of the Psychology and Cognitive Science Laboratory at University of Calabria. Moreover, she is one of the director of the research group called ESG (Evolutionary Systems Group). Group activities are present in the following Web Site http://galileo.cincom.unical.it/esg/
She is in the scientific board of various conference, among which:
a) FROM ANIMALS TO ANIMATS, International Conference on the SIMULATION OF ADAPTIVE BEHAVIOR;
b) EUROGRAPHICS Italian Chapter;
c) Workshop Italiano di Vita Artificiale.
Professor Bilotta is also referee in various journals: Cognitive Science; Complexity; Artificial Life; International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos.
She organized many conferences and workshops, among which the following:
- I Workshop Italiano di Vita Artificiale, University of Calabria, Settembre 2003
- Minisimposio “Applicazioni della Matematica all’Industria Culturale”, Convegno SIMAI, Venezia, Settembre 2004
