I am a Professor of Public Economics at the University of Calabria where I also serve as Director of the Interdepartmental Center for Studies on Society, Health and Place.  I am also invited research fellow at RWI of Essen and at IZA of Bonn. Previously, I worked as assistant professor and associate professor at the University of Salerno and as full professor at the University of Catanzaro. I received my PhD from the University of Calabria and a PhD specialization in Health Economics and Policy from the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+).

I am  Associate Editor of the journal Oxford Open Economics , on the Editorial board of the journal Economics and Human Biology, and member of the Scientific Committee of IWAEE. I have been member-elect of the Steering committee of the Italian Health Economics Association (AIES) for 2017-2020 and 2020-2023.

My main research interests are in the fields of health economics and policy evaluation with a particular focus on the economics of risky behaviours and socio-economic status related health inequalities. On these topics, I've published papers in economic journals such as the Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, European Economic Review, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics,  among others and in interdisciplinary journals such as Scientific Reports- Nature and Food Policy.
