Reception Hours

Wednesday from 15.30 to 18.30

ROSOLINO VAIANA earned his Degree in Civil Engineering cum laude (2000) from Palermo University, Italy, and his Ph.D from Palermo University (2004). Dr. Vaiana joined the University of Calabria (Arcavacata Campus, Cosenza, Italy) at the department of Civil Engineering becoming Assistant Professor of Highways, Railways and Airports Engineering in 2005. He is habilitated as associate professor in the 2017 call. Since 1st October 2022 dr. Vaiana is Associate Professor.

Vaiana's primary research activity addresses the themes related to road pavement materials, characterization of road surface performance (Friction, Drainability, Rolling Noise etc), and construction technology. The use of recycled materials and low-impact solutions is of great importance. Moreover, in the field of road design, dr. Vaiana developed two main research topics: one is related to the functional and geometric study of roundabout junctions by traffic microsimulation software; the other is about road safety and driver behavior.

At the University of Calabria, Rosolino Vaiana performs teaching activities since 2005 about these subjects: Foundations of road infrastructures (First cycle degree (L) in Civil Engineering) and Road pavement design and maintenance (Second cycle degree (L) in Civil Engineering). He was and is currently a PhD thesis supervisor.
