Marco Manna is a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Calabria since 2023. Since 2005, he has been involved in teaching activities in theoretical computer science, knowledge representation, basics in computer science, and programming, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, some of which were taught in English. He earned his PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2009 from the University of Calabria. His research activity falls within the area of "Artificial Intelligence", specifically in the field of "Knowledge Representation and Reasoning". However, some of his research also encompasses other fields such as "Agent-based and Multi-agent Systems", "Database Theory", "Formal Languages and Automata Theory", and "Natural Language Processing." In these fields, he has actively participated in numerous national and international research projects, achieving positive results in technology transfer by collaborating with companies such as "Samsung R&D Institute" and "Thales Alenia Space." He has authored over 70 refereed scientific publications. According to the Scopus database, his Hirsch index is 16, with approximately 850 citations to his name from 500 different documents. His submissions to the VQR (National Evaluation of Research Quality) have consistently received an "Excellent" rating. He has served multiple times as a program committee member for prestigious international conferences such as AAAI, IJCAI, and KR. He has conducted review activities for international journals including ACM TODS, ACM TIST, AIJ, IJAR, KBS, and TPLP, as well as conferences such as AAAI, IJCAI, ISWC, KR, and PODS. In 2008, he was an academic visitor at the Computing Laboratory of the University of Oxford and the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance in Oxford. In 2012, he was a post-doctoral research associate at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford, as part of the ERC Advanced Grant project named DIADEM. Since the academic year 2012-13, he has been a member of the scientific board for the PhD programme in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Calabria. One of his works was awarded during the plenary session of the prestigious International Conference on Logic Programming (ICLP) held in Melbourne in 2017. In August 2018, he was granted the National Scientific Qualification for full professorship in Computer Science, sector 01/B1 - Computer Science. In the same year, he was invited to present his latest research at the IJCAI international conference held in Stockholm. He served as the program committee chair of the XVI European Conference on Logics in Artificial Intelligence - JELIA 2019. In the same year, he co-founded the innovative startup EVO-BI, born as a research spin-off of the University of Calabria. He served as the general co-chair of the XVI International Reasoning Web Summer School - RW 2020 and starting from that year, he also holds the position of Rector's Delegate for the executive program implementation control.
