Associate Professor since 2025, Lorenzo Leonetti carries out teaching and research activities in the Academic Sector CEAR-06/A "Mechanics of Solids and Structures" at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Calabria. He is currently the holder of the course of "Seismic Dynamics of Structures" for the Master's Degree in Building Engineering and Architecture.

In 2014 he obtained a PhD in "Materials and Structural Engineering" at University of Calabria. Subsequently, he collaborated first with University of Calabria and with Sapienza University of Rome as a research associate and then with the University of Parma as a research fellow. From 2019 to 2025 he was a fixed-term researcher at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Calabria.

Since 2020 he has been involved in several research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, serving as unit leader in 2022 (PRIN Project "SUSTainable composite structures for energy-harvesting and carbon-storing BUILDings").

He is the author of over 100 scientific works, of which about 40 are articles published in peer-reviewed international journals.

His research interests include multiscale approaches for the collapse analysis of heterogeneous materials, advanced modeling of fracture and damage in composites and masonries, stability analysis of composites in the presence of defects.
