Scientific Activity Scientific Activities are mainly centered in the fields of Hydrology and Applied Hydraulics, where theoretical, experimental, on site and numerical researches have been developed. Publication activity It can be summarized in more than 120 publications that particularly have concerned the following subjects: - GIS and integration with hydrological modeling; algorithm development for automatic extraction of morphological and hydrological parameters using digital terrain models; - Development of distributed models for the simulation of hydrological processes with regard to the rainfall-runoff transformation phenomenon; - Application of Entropia concept to spatially distributed data for the definition of the corrensponding optimal information content; - Semi-distributed Object-Oriented Modeling for the simulation at a basin scale of rainfall-runoff processes; - Realization of integrated systems of Protezione Civile at a regional scale for the monitoring and management of real time extreme events; - Distributed Water Balance Models with the aim of estimating and forecasting extreme drought events; - Realization of integrated WEB-GIS systems for regional real-time monitoring and management water resources; -Very detailed hydrological modeling aided by innovative techniques (Cellular Automata) for improving computational capacity through parallel computing; - Field experiments and analysis of the eddy correlation flux measurements; - Mass and Energy fluxes among atmosphere, vegetation and soil; - Management of water systems to face drought and water scarcity; - Climate Change scenario modeling.
