Biographic Notes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I received my "Laurea" degree in "Ingegneria Informatica"
(Computer Science Engineering) cum laude in 2002, from the
University of Calabria, Italy.
My thesis received the ASFOR-SMAU award E-Talenti dellE-Learning”
promoted by the Italian Ministry of Innovation and Technologies.
I received my PhD in Computer Science and Mathematics in 2006 with a thesis
on "Disjunctive Logic Programming: Optimization Issues and enhancements for Ontologies."

Scientific Research Activities
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My research activity ranges over several topics related to the areas of Logic Programming, Artificial Intelligence. I’m interested in declarative logic-based languages, including the practical aspects of Systems and Applications Development and Software Engineering. I had the opportunity to focus my attention on: Answer Set Programming, Ontologies, Deductive Databases, Data Integration, Software Engineering, E-Toursim and E-Learning.
I have proposed language extensions and evaluation techniques for ASP and the application of the ASP in real-world settings. I proposed and developed: language extensions for specifying ontologies in ASP; hybrid languages and libraries for the integration of logic programming and object-oriented programming; techniques for data integration and consistent query answering. I have developed real-world applications and industrial systems based on ASP.
The results are the subject of several scientific publications in international journals relevant in the field of computer science, conference proceedings, book chapters and an encyclopedia chapter.
