Positions and Biographical Notes. She is Assistant Professor (ING-INF/05) at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Calabria and she is with the Department of Electronic Informatics and Systems (DEIS). She received her Laurea degree in Engineering from the University of Calabria(April 2000) and holds a Ph.D. (November 2004) in System Engineering and Computer Science from the DEIS Department of the University of Calabria. Positions at others universities and research institutes. January 2003 - November2006. SHE has had research appointments at the Institute for Systems and Computer Science of the National Research Council (CNR-ISI) within the projects detailed in the Projects section. January 2005 - July 2006. Research Fellow at the Institute of High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR-CNR), Rende (CS) under the European project called `` INFOMIX - Boosting the Information Integration''. July 2006 - March 2007. Appointment of a young researcher at the Institute of High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR-CNR), Rende CS) under the European project called `` TOCAI.IT: Knowledge oriented technologies for business combinations on the Internet - FIRB 2005 project, funded by MIUR (Italian Ministry of Education and Scientific Research).'' April -December 2007. Research associate at ICAR-CNR, Italy. Details on Scientific Activity. Her research ranges over different fields, across Data Mining, Process Mining and Knowledge Representation. In particular, some major problems she faced in her recent researches are briefly described below: • Data Mining: In this field, she has proposed several co-clustering techniques for mlti-dimensional data and for dealing with process logs. Also, she has developed graph mining techniques specialized in the context of processes, suitable to mainly identify subprocesses (i.e. subgraphs) which are frequently executed and unexpected correlations among them. Finally, she has also conducted research activity on outlier detection approaches, when anomalies emerge from qualitative descriptions of the domains of interest. • Process Mining: In this field, she basically investigates on the discovery and consolidation of information and data pertaining business processes. In more details, she has investigated the induction of expressive process models out of process log data. Moreover, she has proposed several techniques for classifying execution log and different ad hoc techniques to automatically abstract processes and to build taxonomy of process models. She also worked on Bioinformatics Workflow, on Knowledge Management and XML documents and on Logic Languages for knowledge representation. Importance and visibility of the research In 2007 she was review of the Dutch Science Research Council for projects funded under a program of innovation and promotion of Dutch academic research. Currently, she is a member of the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining. The task force was established within the Technical Committee of Data Mining (DMTC) Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) and consists of international experts in Process Mining with the aim to promote and disseminate research, development, training in the mining process. Research Projects. Since 2003, she has been involved in several research projects first as Phd student within the DEIS and later as researcher of the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR) of the CNR. Currently, she participates to the following projects: Since July 2006, she has been participating to the three-year project “TOCAI.it: Knowledge-oriented technologies for the aggregation of enterprises over Internet”, funded by the MiUR ministry and carried out by the CINI consortium, CNR, CM Sistemi SpA, SELEX Sistemi Integrati SpA, THINK3 Inc. The project aims at developing an integrated group of methodologies, techniques, and software systems based on the most advanced knowledge technologies and suitable to support the analysis, specification, implementation, and evaluation of new enterprise organization models in the “internetworked enterprise” perspective. Within the research task she works, she investigates knowledge discovery techniques for mining and classify processes and inter-intra organizational knowledge. She also act as referee for a industrial task. Since December 2006, she has been involved in the research project “PROMIS - Logistic PROcess Management and Intelligence System”, aimed at developing a set of techniques and tools for supporting the management, analysis and optimization of logistic processes in maritime container terminals. Besides ICAR-CNR, the partners of the project are: Medcenter Container Terminal spa (MCT), Exeura srl, Methodi srl, Herzum Software Solutions Center srl (HSSC), H. D. E. Holbe Dialoque Europe spa (HDE), Università della Calabria, Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria. Since July 2007, she was been involved in the research activities of project “OpenKnowTech: Laboratorio di Tecnologie per la Integrazione, Gestione e Distribuzione di Dati, Processi e Conoscenze “. The main goal of the project is to develop a public-private laboratory of open-source software technologies, based on a distributed and federated interoperability platform, which is built incrementally by different partners offering and using a range of basic services according to their needs/roles. Project’s partners are --- besides ICAR-CNR --- the University of Calabria, Exeura srl, HERZUM Software Solutions Center srl, ID Technology, e Orangee srl. The laboratory is planned to go through a three-year start-up, and a running phase of at least five years. 2003-2006 Project "AUTOMA (AUTOmobile logistic MAnagement)", funded by Regione Calabria. 2004-2007 Miur Project n.54 "Ambienti Intelligenti ed Adattativi di Sostegno all'e-Government ed all'e-Democracy nelle Pubbliche Amministrazioni Locali" 2003-2004 FIRB Project "Realizzazione prototipale di un Sistema per la definizione di una catena di servizi a valore aggiunto " (G4B). 2005-2006. European project called "INFOMIX - Boosting the Information Integration". 2005-2007. PRIN Project "GeoPKDD: Geographic Privacy-aware Knowledge Discovery and Delivery", funded by MIUR. Organization and Coordination of Scientific Activities. She has been member of the organization committee of the following conferences:Dexa since 2007, BPI since 2006, SEBD 2003, APPIA-GULP-PRODE2003. She is rewiever for several international journals, including: DKE -Data and Knowledge Engineering, ToPNoC Special Issue on Concurrency in Process-Aware Information Systems, Information System. She is rewiever for several conferences, including: PKDD, KDD, BPM, SDM, ICDM, DaWaK, ITCC, SEBD. She has been publicity and coordination chair of the workshop “Business Process Intelligence (BPI'06)”, Vienna, Austria, 4 Settembre, 2006.
