Bettina Fazzinga is associate professor of Computer Engineering at the Department of Cultures, Education and Society (DICES) of the University of Calabria. Previously she was a permanent researcher at the Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networks of the CNR. She obtained a degree with honors in Computer Engineering from UNICAL and a PhD in Systems Engineering and Computer Science from UNICAL. She held a fellowship at the University of Oxford. She obtained the national qualification as full professor in the Sistemi di elaborazione delle informazioni  sector in 2024. She mainly deals with languages and techniques for querying databases, process mining techniques aimed at log interpretation of business processes and modeling and reasoning in the field of computational argumentation.   She is a member of the editorial board of the journals Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Argument & Computation, and of the program committee, also as a Senior PC Member, of several international conferences. She was the scientific director for the CNR of the Ethical Chatbots project within the European network of human-centered artificial intelligence network of excellence and participated in numerous research projects. She is the scientific director for the University of Calabria of the DOOWAY-Data Analytics for Tourism in Italy research project, financed by the Fund for the development of artificial intelligence, blockchain and internet of things technologies and applications program - Mise DD 24 /06/2022. She is the scientific director of the DiCES unit for the KILOWATT-smart pacKagIng and LOgistics for food WAsTe reducTion project, funded by the Agreements for innovation-Mise DD 18/03/2022 programme.
