• RESEARCH FOCUS AND INTERESTS
Marco Ricci is active in scientific research since 2003 and his research activity have been mainly focused on the study of electromagnetic and acoustic fields and on their interaction with matter and materials.
He started investigating optical implementations of quantum-information and quantum-measurement protocols, whereas he is currently main focused on developing nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) measurement procedures applied to industrial goods, cultural heritage, and food by exploiting thermography, eddy-current, ultrasound and signal and image processing. His research interests also include the study of magnetism and in particular spintronics phenomena, and acoustic metamaterials.
Marco Ricci’s research methodology is characterized by a theoretical modelling activity of innovative measurement, processing and imaging protocols supported by an enduring experimental validation effort aimed at fostering practical applications.
He acquired an extended knowledge of electromagnetic, acoustic and heat theories and in several aspects of signal and image processing, inverse problems, especially applied to NDT&E techniques. His main experimental skills regard data acquisition systems, ultrasonic, acoustic and electromagnetic transducers, IR cameras, laser systems, signal conditioning, etc..
He is co-author of >120 papers on international journals and international conference proceedings, of three Italian patents and various book chapters. He was also the editor of a book on Industrial application of Ultrasonic NDT.
