DA AGGIORNARE ------------- Andrea Pugliese is an associate professor of computer engineering with the DIMES Department at the University of Calabria (Italy). He has also been a visiting assistant professor at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS), College Park (USA). He received is Ph.D. from the University of Calabria (2006). His research interests include semistructured data management, activity detection in temporal databases, social network analysis, and inconsistent databases. He has published his research results in several journals of the field, including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, ACM Transactions on the Web, and World Wide Web Journal, and in the refereed proceedings of several conferences, including AAAI, ASONAM, ECSQARU, EDBT, ISWC, KR, WebDB, WWW, and VLDB. He has served in the program committees of the SUM, FoIKS, RR, and ISWC conferences, and as a program co-chair for the SUM-2009 conference. He has been member of ACM since 2004. Andrea Pugliese is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering with the DIMES Department at the University of Calabria. He graduated magna cum laude in Computer Engineering in 2000 and obtained his Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Engineering in 2004. His Ph.D. thesis work focused on efficient querying of semistructured data. His main research interests are in the areas of models and techniques for databases and the web, computer security, and social networks. He has co-authored 6 peer reviewed book chapters, 20 peer reviewed international journal papers and 44 peer reviewed international conference papers. As of March 2018, Google Scholar reports more than 1800 citations and an h-index of 24. He has a long standing collaboration as a visiting professor with the Univerity of Maryland Institute of Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) at College Park (USA), in the research group led by Prof. V. S. Subrahmanian. This collaboration has resulted in several papers published in world class venues. He has served as program committee co-chair of the International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM 2009) and the International Workshop on Data Management in the Social Semantic Web (DMSSW 2012 and 2013). He has also served as tutorial committee co-chair of the International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining (ASONAM 2016). He has been a member of the program committees for leading international conferences, a selection of which is provided below:

He has been a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) since 2004. Since 2005, he has taught University courses on foundations of computer science, databases, algorithms and data structures, Internet-based systems, and computer security Since 2008, he is a member of the scientific board of the Ph.D. program on Information and Communication Technologies at the University of Calabria. He has served on numerous Faculty, Department, and University level committees at University of Calabria. He has been a co-founder of Ithea, an Italian company working in the areas of information technology and business intelligence.
