Anna Elia is Associate Professor of Sociology of Environment and Territory (SPS/10) in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Calabria.
She carries out teaching activities and is a member of international research groups at several foreign universities including the Universidad de Valencia; Cnam in Paris, the Université Catholique de Lille, the HES in Geneva and the Université de Lorraine. Her research interests focus on international migration issues with particular attention to the issue of asylum related to the governance of social inclusion pathways in the territories. She has also been interested in the processes of violent radicalisation of young migrants; generational and gender migration dynamics with particular reference to unaccompanied minors. Recently, she has dealt with parenting in forced migration and the position of young migrants in the transnational family; strategies of border externalisation; the impact of the COVID-19 emergency on the management of reception.
