Girolamo GIORDANO Actual position: Full Professor of Industrial and Technological Chemistry (Scientific Sector ING-IND/27) at the Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering of the University of Calabria, Lecturer in Organic Industrial Chemistry. Head of Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, University of Calabria, Rende, Italy. Education: 1980, March. Achieved the Italian title of Doctor Engineer in Chemical Engineering, at the University of Calabria, Italy. -1983. Researcher (Assistant professor) in Applied Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Calabria, Rende, Italy - 1985-86. winner of two scholarships CNR NATO Junior, spent at the University Notre Dame de la Paix, Namur, Belgium, in the Laboratoire de Catalyse, under the supervision of the Professor E.G. Derouane -1986. Senior Researcher in Applied Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Calabria, Italy. - 1992-93 post-doc position at the Laboratoire CNRS-URA-418 (today CNRS UMR5618) at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie, Montpellier (University II of Montpellier), under the supervision of Dr. F. Fajula. - 1994-95. Scientific responsible for the CNR-CNRS project “Influence of the Activation Treatments and Ageing on the Secondary Porosity of the Zeolite Materials” carried out as Exchange Agreements Italy-France. - 1995-96 Scientific responsible as Italian member of the Com. Europian INTAS (93-1005 project) project between the University of Calabria, URA 418 CNRS of Montpellier (France), the Moscow State University (Russia) and the Kazakh State University (Alma-Ata, Kazachistan), on the use of the Fe-zeolites in the alkylation processes. -1993-1999 member of the Administration Council of University of Calabria and President of the Council Commissionds (University residential zone- students accommodation 1994-1995) and (construction and maintenance 1994-1999). - 2000. China) -Vice chairman, chairman and co-chairmen of different international conferences and paper selection committee (FEZA 2002, AIZ-CIS 2005, IZC 2010, IMMS 2010, FEZA post-conference school 2011, IZC 2013, CIS-6 2015, AIZ 2017, EAZC 2017). - from 2000 member of the International Advisory Board of many international conferences in the area of porous materials and catalysis (including IZC, IMMS, ZMPC, FEZA, AMMM, EAZC, CIS). -From 1983 carries out research on the preparation of the zeolite catalysts and their industrial application in heterogeneous catalysis with a special attention to the sustainable development and to the problems of environmental protection. Current research topics are in the direct synthesis of dimethyl-ether from hydrogenation of carbon dioxide, methanol to olefin processes, thermal and catalytic upgrading of biomass and aromatization of C3 alkane. -Author of 4 industrial patents, more than 150 publications on international journal, 10 book chapters, more than 420 scientific communication at congress and editor of 2 books and of a special issue of Catalysis Today.. 74 Invited conference (including plenary and keynote lectures).
