Anna De Bartolo is a Researcher/Assistant professor (RTDA) in Physiology (SC 05D1, SSD BIO/09) at the Department of Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences (DiBEST), University of Calabria (UNICAL). She completed her Ph.D. in "Life Sciences" (SSD BIO/09: Physiology) at the University of Calabria (UNICAL); her International Ph.D. in "Integrative Biology, Health and Environment" at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research INSERM U1239, Unit of Neuronal and Neuroendocrine Differentiation and Communication, University of Rouen Normandy, France.

Her research activity at Cellular and Molecular Cardiac Physiology and Pathophysiology Lab (Operative Unit of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Research, INRC) is focused on cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology and systemic and cardiac metabolism, with particular focus on signaling mechanisms and functional crosstalk/network at the molecular, cellular, tissue and organ levels. The research aims to elucidate in in vitro and small preclinical models the physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the action of endogenous and exogenous agents such as cardiovascular and/or metabolic regulators and potential cardioprotective molecular targets for the prevention and treatment of cardiac dysfunction secondary to myocardial ischemia, ischemia/reperfusion injury, hypertension, metabolic syndrome and chemotherapy.

Anna De Bartolo is a member of the Italian Society of Physiology (SIF) and the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Research (SIRC).

To date (August, 2023) Anna De Bartolo is co-author of 14 publications in peer review journals (N. 4 as co-first author).
