Currently, Lara Console is a researcher in Biochemistry (SSD BIO/10) at the Unit of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Molecular Biotechnology of the DiBEST (Department of Biology, Ecology, and Earth Sciences) at the University of Calabria. After her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and pharmacological science, she obtained a postdoc position at the University of Calabria. Then she moved to York University in Toronto, where she worked in the laboratory of Prof. ssa Coe on the role of N-glycosylation of ASCT2. Canadian experience improved her skill in confocal microscopy and cell biology. She returned to the University of Calabria, focusing on studying the structure/function relationship of membrane transport proteins. In 2017, she got three months fellowship at Warwick Ventures (U.K.), collaborating with Victor Zammit, Professor of Metabolic Biochemistry at Warwick University, and Dr. Arduini, CEO of CoreQuest, Manno, Switzerland. That was an essential experience to learn about technology transfer applied to drug discovery. In 2018, she returned to the University of Calabria, where she continued studying transport proteins using an approach that combines biochemistry, bioinformatics, and cell biology methods. She also became the co-supervisor of several graduated and undergraduate students at the University of Calabria. She is a co-author of over 40 publications and is a member of several national scientific communities.
