Permanent Researcher in in the scientific-disciplinary sector BIO/06-COMPARATA ANATOMY AND CYTOLOGY at the Department of Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences of the University of Calabria since 2007.

In 1996 she obtained the Degree in Biological Sciences (Unical).

In 2001 she obtained the PhD in Animal Biology (Unical).

Since 2007 she is a member of the PhD in Life Science and Technology (Unical).

Since 2017 she has been qualified as Associate Professor in BIO/06 sector - COMPARATIVE ANATOMY AND CYTOLOGY.

Main research interests include:

- Determination of benzodiazepine receptor subtypes in the brain of a primitive mammal (Erinaceus europaeus);

- Morpho-functional aspects of the GABAA receptor system in some Vertebrates;.

- Effects of neurosteroids on the subunit composition of the GABAA receptor;

- Cross-talking between the main excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission receptor systems of some Vertebrats;

- Effects of stressors on mRNA expression levels of some neuropeptides in teleost fish and mammals;

- Role of the Orexinergic, Glutamatergic and GABAergic systems in the neuro-behavioral activities in a hibernating rodent (Mesocricetus auratus);

- Morpho-functional role of the Orexinergic and GABAergic systems in the teleost brain;

- Neurobiological activities of stressors induced by cross-talking between Hit Shoch Protein and Histamine systems in aquatic Vertebrates;

- Mechanisms of neuronal differentiation at different stages of hippocampal development;

- Catastastin: interaction with other neuroreceptor systems and vasomotor functions in the brain;

- Neuro-behavioral alterations induced by stress factors and/or diet in some limbic areas of Mesocricetus auratus;

- Behavioral effects and expression of molecular factors in the different brain areas of some experimental models of autism.
