Born in Crotone on July 03, 1957.
Master in Physics cum laude at the University of Calabria on April 1980 with a thesis on the single particle and collective excitations of iron surfaces studied by electron energy loss spectroscopy. Since June 1983 he is a Research staff member and since November 1999 is Associate Professor in Experimental Physics at the Department of Physics of the University of Calabria.
Research activity in experimental surface science, using lab sources and synchrotron radiation facilities. The main experimental techniques are electron spectroscopies in ultra-high vacuum.
Main scientific results:
Study of the electronic properties of surfaces by EELS and other spectroscopic techniques.
Studies of water adsorption on semiconductor surfaces by HREELS.
CO and NO adsorption and co-adsorption on metal substrate by HREELS and x-ray photoelectron diffraction.
Formate adsorption on copper surfaces studied by XPD.
HREELS studies of the coadsorption of oxygen and alkali metals on Ni surfaces.
TPD and HREELS investigation of Au-doped iron oxide thick films.
Development of a surface holographic technique for the determination of atomic positions on surfaces, based on EELS.
Synthesis and Raman studies of multiwalled carbon nanotubes.
Plasmonic properties of epitaxial graphene on nickel.
