I studied Natural Science at the University of Calabria, Italy where I obtained the degree, cum laude,  in 1991. In 1992 I obtained a regional grant to perform research on root pattern fornation in seedling of  Allium cepa at the Plant Biology Laboratory of the Department of Ecology of the University of Calabria.  From December 2004 to November 2005 I obtained a "Specialization Exchange abroad" grant, financed by the University of Calabria, to work in France, at the "Cytologie Experimentale et Morphogenese Végétale" (CEMV) Laboratory of the "Pierre et Marie Curie" University. During this period, I improved the knowledge on quantitative cytophotometry and I studied the role of cytokinins in plant growth and development, through a pre-embedding immunocytochemistry experimental approach. In 2002 I obtained a position as full researcher and in 2014 as Associate Professor of General Botany at the University of Calabria.

1. Education 1989-91 Degree in Natural Science with Distinction and Honours at the University of Calabria -Italy 2. Career Summary 1992-2002 Researcher, Department of Ecology, Univesirty of Calabria, Italy 2002 Full researcher of Botany, Department of Ecology, Univesirty of Calabria, Italy 3. Teaching - Teaching for the following courses: Life science, Botany, Plant Phisyology, In vitro Plant culture- Supervision of Ph.Ds students - Supervision of post-doctoral fellows 4. Research I work in the field of plant developmental biology and I am author of 26 papers pubblished on International Scientific Journals. My research interest have been directed towards the cytophysiological aspects of cell proliferation and cell committment and differentiation. Recently, my studies have been focused on cytokinins and auxin availability, distribution and their relationship with the expression of specific homeobox genes in relation to determination of cell fate, to phase transition, shoot and leaf development, embryogenesis and finally adventitious morphogenesis. The utilized experimental approaches deal with autoradiographic assay of nuclear metabolism, immunocytochemical detection of DNA methylation pattern and antibodies specific for plant hormones. 5 . Collaboration - Dr. Dennis Francis, Cardiff School of Biosciences, Cardiff Univesity, U.K.; - Dr. Hylary Rogers, Cardiff School of Biosciences, Cardiff Univesity, U.K.; - Dr. Mieke Van Lijsbettens, Vars Institut vor Biotechnology, Department of Plant Biology System, University of Ghent, Belgium; - Prof. Andrzej Jerzmanowski, Laboratory of Plant Molecular Biology, Warsaw University

Research field She works in the field of plant developmental biology and she is author of papers, pubblished on International Scientific Journals. The research interest has been directed towards the cytophysiological aspects of cell proliferation and cell committment and differentiation. The studies have been also focused on cytokinins and auxin availability, distribution and their relationship with the expression of specific homeobox genes in relation to determination of cell fate, to phase transition, shoot and leaf development, embryogenesis and finally adventitious morphogenesis. Recently, the scientific interest is aimed to agronomically relevant tree plants such as peach and olive. In olive the research are focused on: i) the role of dehydrins in response to water stress; ii) to study the genetic diversity of an ex situ olive germplasm collection by nuclear microsatellite markers. The utilized experimental approaches deal with autoradiographic assay of nuclear metabolism, immunocytochemical detection of specific plant hormones and proteins, DNA methylation pattern, study of genetic structure using nuclear microsatellite (SSRs) markers, gene expression analysis through qRT-PCR, GUS analysis, single- and multi-probe in situ hybridisation.
