RESEARCH FIELDS

Research activity covers different organic chemistry topics, including synthetic method development of organic molecules and peptide synthesis. The activities also span drug delivery systems development and analytical organic chemistry.

The main research topics are the following:

Development of new methodologies based on the use of Lewis acids and their application to the syntheses of organic molecules of general interest.

Synthesis, both in solution and on solid supports, of peptides and peptidomimetics for use as receptor ligands, anticancer drugs or enzymatic inhibitors.

Development of new solution-phase methods for peptide synthesis

Synthesis of modified amino acids to be used as "building blocks" for obtaining biologicaly active peptides

Design and synthesis of multifunctional hybrid Mesoporous silica-based systems for targeting and release of biologically active molecules.

Solid-phase synthesis of bioactive oligopeptides present in food products to be used for  preparing "functional foods"

Determination of organic molecules in complex matrices by Mass Spectrometry coupled to chromatographic separation techniques also by using solid phase microextraction (SPME).
