Salvatore Critelli, is Full Professor of Geology (scientific sector GEO/02 Stratigraphic Geology and Sedimentology at Earth Science Department of the University of Calabria, Faculty of Science, 87036 Rende (CS), Italy. He works dominantly on: Sedimentology, Provenance and Diagenesis of terrigenous sediments; Sedimentology and Geomorphology of modern fluvial, coastal and marine environments; Tectonics and Sedimentation; Palaeogeographic and Palaeotectonic reconstructions; Basin Analysis; Regional Geology. The main field areas are: Southern and Central Apennines and Sicily, Italy; Spain; Makran accretionary prism, SW Pakistan; Himalaya (Pakistan, India, Nepal); Southern and Central California; Baja California (Mexico); Spitsbergen (Svalbard), Norway; Rif Chain, northern Moroc; He was in receipt, of the 93-94 Giorgio Dal Piaz Award" of the Geological Society of Italy; He was in receipt of the European Union of Geoscience (EUG), 1997 Outstanding Young Scientist Award; He was in receipt of the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM), 1997 James Lee Wilson Award for Excellence in Sedimentary Geology. He was named 2009 "Fellow" of the Geological Society of America.
