Paolina Crocco (PC) has been a researcher in Genetics (BIOS-14/A - ex BIO/18) since October 2022. PC obtained her Master's Degree in Biological Sciences, Summa cum laude (2006) and her PhD in "Molecular Bio-pathology" at the University of Calabria (2010). From 2011 to 2021, she participated in the research activities of the UNICAL Genetics Laboratory, also taking part in several European projects aimed at investigating the determinants of human longevity. She currently teaches the “Genetics” course for the Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and the “Applied Human Genetics” course for the Bachelor of Science in Health Biotechnology. PC is co-relator for several Bachelor's and Master's theses in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology.

PC is involved in the study of genetic and epigenetic variability in ageing, human longevity and age-related phenotypes. PC has co-authored papers in international journals and numerous conference presentations. PC is a referee for international journals in the field of her research, including Cells, Genes, Frontiers in Medicine, Biomolecules, Life, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. PC is a member of the editorial board of journals such as Frontiers in Genetics (Associate Editor in Genetics of Aging and Review Editor in Genetics, Genomics and Epigenomics of Aging - Cancer Genetics and Oncogenomic), Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences (Associate Editor in Molecular Diagnostics and Therapeutics) and Gene & Protein in Disease and guest editor of special issues for the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Biology and Genes.

PC is a member of AGI (Italian Genetic Association) and of the Order of Italian Biologists (since 2008).

PC is an elected member of the Board of the Department of Biology Ecology, Earth Sciences, University of Calabria - triennium 2022/2025.

Since February 2025 PC has been a member of the Doctoral Teaching Commission in Life science and Technology at the University of Calabria.

Since November 2024 PC has been the delegate for incoming and ongoing orientation for the Department of Biology, Ecology and Earth Sciences, University of Calabria and for the Biology and Biotechnology undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses.

Since 2023 PC is member of the teaching board of the PhD programme ‘Life Science and Technology’ of DiBEST, University of Calabria

Since 2022 PC is Co-referee for the University of Calabria of the PLS in Biology and Biotechnology A.A. 2022/2025

From March 2023 to November 2023 PC is a reference lecturer for students with disabilities and DSA appointed by the Director of the Department of Biology Ecology, Earth Sciences, University of Calabria.
