Lucia Veltri was born in Cosenza in 1975. In 1999 she graduated in Chemistry at the University of Calabria with marks 110/110 On 12.12.2002 she obtained the title of Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Calabria. Since 2003 to 2006 she was a post doctoral research fellow at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Calabria. In 2007 she became organic chemistry researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Calabria. Since A.A. 2002/2003 Dr. Veltri has played didactic activities in the field of Organic Chemistry and chemistry of the materials. Currently, her research interests mainly concern: the development of innovative catalytic methods for the synthesis of molecules of pharmaceutic interest, and the synthesis of new material for application in optical device. This research activity has been, and continues to be motive for the activation of various collaborations with other Italian universities and with other research institutions (CNR) and has also allowed to obtain various funding. In particular, Dr. Lucia Veltri has participated and in some cases is still participating in Research Programs Co-financed: PRIN 2008, ColFibEn, Direct Foods, MATRECO, SCODA, MACPOFIN. The research work done by Dr. Lucia Veltri has also led to the activation of a SPIN-OFF with the University of Calabria (elchrom s.r.l.)and to the following scientific production: N° 37 publications: 34 documents (Scopus and/or ISI WoS) and 3 patents The academic activities of Dr. Veltri included the designation by the department of chemistry and chemical technology of University of Calabria as member of the Scientific and Technical Committee of Library of the University of Calabria (from 2007 to 2012) and from 2013 to October 2015 as member of the internationalization commission and of teaching commission of the department.

In 1999 she graduated in Chemistry at the University of Calabria with marks 110/110 after discussing a thesis entitled: “ Pd-catalyzed reactions of oxidative carbonylation of 2-ethynylanilines and 1-alkynes in the presence of amines” (supervisors: Prof. Giuseppe Salerno and Prof. Bartolo Gabriele) On November 1999 she obtained the qualification to work as a chemist, passing the state examination at the University of Calabria. On 12.12.2002 she obtained the title of Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Calabria after defending his final dissertation entitled: “Synthesis of new photosensitive liquid crystals monomers and polymers” (Supervisors: Professor Giuseppe Salerno). Since 2003 to 2006 she was a post doctoral research fellow at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Calabria. During this period she worked on the development of new organic synthesis of new materials by organometallic catalysis and of new material for optoelectronic application under the supervision of Prof. G. Salerno. During this period she also attended two master to teach in the schools, science and chemistry obtaining the qualification respectively in 2004 and in 2006. In 2004 she was the winner of the annual funding “ young researches project.” and carried out a program of research on the synthesis of new heterocyclic reactions by Pd-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation. In 2007 she became organic chemistry researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Calabria. In 2016 she won the financial support from University of Calabria for the international mobility of researchers and she worked at Greenwich University in Prof. Adrian Dobbs' group, for six months. Since A.A. 2002/2003 Dr. Veltri has played didactic activities in the field of Organic Chemistry and chemistry of the materials. In particular the teaching assignments have been carried out are: Laboratory of Organic Chemistry,"Polymers", "Synthetic processes", "Industrial chemical processes"," Reactivity of organic compounds","Organic Chemistry", " Catalysis". Currently, her research interests mainly concern: the development of innovative catalytic methods for the synthesis of molecules of pharmaceutic interest, and the synthesis of new material for application in optical device. This research activity has been, and continues to be motive for the activation of various collaborations with other Italian universities (University of Parma, University of Bari, University of Napoli Federico II, University of Messina, University of Pisa), with other foreign university ( University of Greenwich, University of Dhaka and Swansea University), and with other research institutions (Institute of Crystallography - CNR Bari, macromolecular chemistry institute- CNR Milano, institute of membrane technologies - CNR Rende, Hochschule Karlsruhe - Technik und Wirtschaft, Institute of Applied Research), and has also allowed to obtain various funding. In particular, Dr. Lucia Veltri has participated and in some cases is still participating in Research Programs Co-financed: PRIN 2008: Engineering and development of molecular or nano-structured catalysts and of sustainable and eco-friendly synthetic strategies (high conversion and selectivity) for the production of multifunctional molecular systems of high applicative interest by assembly of simple building blocks in ordered sequence; PON 2007/2013: Direct Foods, PON 2007/2013: MATRECO (advanced materials for sustainable transport), POR Calabria 2007/2013: SCODA: (integrated system for certification of artworks), POR Calabria 2007/2013: MACPOFIN (MAterials Composites of natural POlimers and Fibers), Progetto europeo: VicInAqua (Integrated aquaculture based on sustainable water recirculating system for the Vic toria Lake Basin; PON 2014/2020: ReSIFaC (Realization and testing of pilot plants for the Fast Composting of civil and industrial organic waste). The research work done by Dr. Lucia Veltri has also led to the activation of a SPIN-OFF with the University of Calabria (elchrom s.r.l.).
