RESEARCH INTERESTS
Current research activity is mainly dealing with the application of ab initio methods to the study of structures and properties of complex systems, with particular reference to reaction mechanisms, molecular interactions in solution and physicochemical properties addressed to design new anticancer drugs. These include condensed-phase photophysical properties of photosensitizers potentially applicable in photodynamic therapy; properties and reactivity in the physiological environment of free radical scavengers; activity of metal complexes in blocking replication and transcription of cancer cells.
