Francesco Longo took his degree in Mechanical Engineering, summa cum Laude, in October 2002 from the University of Calabria. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Calabria in January 2006. He is currently researcher in the same Department. His research interests include Modeling & Simulation for production systems design and supply chain management. In these areas specific subjects regard supply chain security, inventory management problems along the supply chain, Modeling & Simulation tools development. He is General Chairman of the 20th European Modeling & Simulation Symposium (EMSS). He was Program Co-Chair of the 4th International Modelling Mediterranean Multiconference and Program Co-Chair of the 19th EMSS. He belongs to the IPCs of the Summer Computer Simulation Conference (Track Chair of the Emergency Simulation session) and of the European Conference on Modeling & Simulation. He works as reviewer for the most important conferences on Modeling & Simulation and for the international journal Computer & Industrial Engineering. He is Responsible of the Modeling & Simulation Center – Laboratory of Enterprise Solutions (MSC-LES), a laboratory operating in the Mechanical Department of University of Calabria. The MSC-LES is member organization (as unique center in Italy) of the MS&Net (McLeod Modeling & Simulation Network) He has published more than 40 scientific papers participating as speaker and chairman to different international conferences. He actively cooperates with the University of Genoa and with the Rutgers University (the State University of New Jersey, USA). He was visiting scholar at Rutgers University (April – September 2005) and visiting researcher (during 2006). He teaches “Design of Production Systems” and “Laboratory of Industrial Plants” for students of the 2nd and 5th year in Management Engineering.
