Antonio Fuduli is an Associate Professor with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Calabria, Italy. In 1993 he got his Laurea degree in Management Engineering cum laude from University of Calabria (Rende, Italy), where in 1998 he received also the Ph.D. degree in Computer and Systems Engineering, defending the thesis titled “Numerical Methods for Minimizing Convex Nondifferentiable Functions”, under the supervision of Prof. Manlio Gaudioso.
In 1999 he got a post-doc position at INRIA (Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies du Numerique) of Paris-Rocquencourt (France), working on nonlinear interior point methods under the supervision of Prof. Jean Charles Gilbert. In the same year he obtained an assistant professorship in Operations Research at the Engineering Faculty of University of Salento (Lecce, Italy). In 2003 he moved to the Mathematics and Computer Science Department of University of Calabria, where he is Associate Professor in Operations Research since February 2020 and acts as Coordinator of the Departmental International Committee.
In 2018 he got the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for full professorship in Operations Research.
His current research interests include nonlinear programming, with a particular emphasis on nondifferentiable optimization and applications in classification problems.
He has published on various international scientific journals, including SIAM Journal on Optimization, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Global Optimization, Computational Optimization and Applications, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems.
He also acts as reviewer of many international scientific journals in Operations Research, Optimization and Machine Learning and he has been member of several program committees in various international conferences.
Since 1997 he is member of the Italian Operations Research Society (AIRO) and, since 2018, of the High Mathematics National Institute (INdAM). He is also member of the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI).
