Alberto Polimeni is an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the University of Calabria (UNICAL), in the scientific-disciplinary sector MED/11 (Cardiovascular Diseases). He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro in 2011, and subsequently obtained his specialization in Cardiovascular Diseases in 2017 from the same university, achieving top honors in both cases. In 2020, he completed his PhD in Biomarkers of Chronic and Complex Diseases at the same institution.

His training includes international experiences, such as a research fellowship at the University Medical Center of Mainz in Germany. He has gained extensive clinical experience in interventional cardiology, performing over 2,500 coronary and structural interventional procedures, and has contributed to international research projects on coronary physiology, microvascular angina, treatment of structural heart diseases (TAVI, Mitraclip, LAAC, ASD/PFO), dyslipidemia, and diabetes.

An author of numerous scientific publications in international journals, he is actively involved as an editor and reviewer for leading journals in the field of cardiology. Throughout his career, he has received several awards and recognitions, including the "Young Researcher" award from the Italian Society of Cardiology and the Grant from the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI). He has also served as President of the Italian Cardiologists of Tomorrow (ICOT) and is currently the Regional President for Calabria of the Italian Society of Cardiology.

His main research areas include interventional cardiology, coronary physiology, and the use of innovative technologies for the treatment of coronary and structural heart diseases.
