The curriculum and research training activities promoted by the PhD programme are based on an understanding of the humanities as a combination of the consolidation of specialised expertise and the promotion of interdisciplinary dynamics.

The PhD programme in the Humanities aims to train scholars in the main humanistic disciplines from literature and philology to history, philosophy, history of arts, archaeology, communication and the performing arts.

The activities of the Doctoral Programme in the Humanities includes lectures (40 hours a year) and seminars held by members of the Doctoral Faculty and/or by external experts, or courses offered by the University.

The Doctoral Programme in the Humanities promotes the acquisition of skills which can satisfy both the requirements of scientific research and the different types of cultural promotion organised by public and private institutions.
