Guidelines - Scholarship, accommodation and canteen services

Students may apply for the benefits if they meet both income and merit requirements specified in the Call for applications. Furthermore, for the academic year 2024/2025 they have to be enrolled for the first time in one of the following study levels of the University of Calabria:

1. Bachelor degree.
2. Master degree.
3. Single cycle master’s degree (5 years)
4. PhD program (if not beneficiaries of other scholarships or research fellowships).

Financial requirements
Financial requirements are identified according to the incomes and assets of student’s family and they are met if the ISEE and ISPE values don’t exceed the following thresholds.
- ISEE Università ≤ € 26.500,00
- ISPE≤ € 57.500,00

Student whose household reside in Italy
If your household resides in Italy you have to submit the ISEE-Università as required to Italian students.

Student whose household is abroad
If your household resides abroad you must obtain specific consular documents. As soon as you arrive in Italy you have to ask for the “ISEE Parificato” to a CAAF Office (Authorized Center for Fiscal Assistance) in
order to submit it.
Students whose household is in a European Union country must submit the following documentation regarding their household financial condition, translated into Italian:
- family status and residence certificate;
- for all household members income for the year 2022, floor area (square meters) of their main dwelling and of other properties and bank deposits in 2022.

Students whose household is in a non-EU country must submit the following documentation regarding their household financial condition:
- certificate issued by the relevant authorities in your country of origin translated into Italian and authenticated by the Italian diplomatic authority having jurisdiction (Embassy or Consulate) certifying compliance with the original and documenting the composition of the household and the residence,
- for all household members income for the year 2022, floor area (square meters) of their main dwelling and of other properties,
- bank deposits in 2022.
For those countries where particular difficulties are encountered in obtaining certificates from a local Italian Embassy, the documents in question can be issued by the foreign competent diplomatic or consular representatives in Italy and legalised by a Prefecture.
If you come from a particularly poor country you can submit a single certificate issued by the Italian diplomatic delegation in your home countries, attesting that you don’t belong to a family known for its high incomes and its high social level.
To be aware of the list of particularly poor countries check the Appendix A in the Call for application 2024/2025.

Documents listed above must be submitted to a CAAF Office (Authorized Center for Fiscal Assistance) for the release of the “ISEE Parificato”. We suggest contacting a CAAF Office and ask for an appointment as  soon as possible. If the CAAF issues two ISEE concerning you and your family you must submit both of them to Unical.

Merit requirement
First year in bachelor/master/single cycle master degree course
In order to receive the whole scholarship, you must achieve and register at least 20 credits within 10th August 2024.

Documents listed above must be submitted to a CAAF Office (Authorized Center for Fiscal Assistance) for the release of the “ISEE Parificato”. We suggest contacting a CAAF Office and ask for an appointment as soon as possible. If the CAAF issues two ISEE concerning you and your family you must submit both of them to Unical.

If you will achieve this merit requirement after 10th August 2024 and within 30th November 2024, you will receive half scholarship.
Otherwise, students must return the scholarship and the amount related to the used accommodation and canteen service during the academic year.

Successive years in bachelor/master/ single cycle master degree course
Successive years students must obtain and get registered the credits specified below within 10th August 2024.

Be aware that the following credits cannot be considered for merit requirement:

• Certified credits of previous academic careers;
• Achieved but not registered credits;
• Credits from single courses;
• Extra credits (outside of study plan);
   

Remember that if you are a successive year student you can use some bonus credits in order to achieve the merit requirement.

• 5 bonus credits: to apply for the second year;
• 12 bonus credits: to apply for the third year;
• 15 bonus credits: to apply for years following the third.

If you already used some bonus credit, you cannot gather more bonus credits during the rest of the University career, but you may use the remaining bonus credits in the following years (also during the master's degree).

Upon the enrolment, if you meet the requirements you can apply for scholarship on the Online Services Portal of the Residential Center (https://soscr.unical.it) or by the Unical Life app by 12 am of the following deadlines.

Apply for scholarship is fast and simple. Just follow these steps.

• Step 1: access to CR Online Services and fill out the application form.
• Step 2: Click on “Online Questions” and then on “Scholarship”
• Step 3: Check your personal data and click on “Continue”
• Step 4: Select the services you need and click on “Continue”
• Step 5: Select your family type and employment status and click on “Continue”
• Step 6: transmit the application online.
   

You can learn about your own status by checking ranking lists on your personal page of CR Online Services or in the app Unical Life.

After the publication of the accommodation’s definitive ranking list, you must accept the assigned place uploading on the portal the declaration as acknowledgement of acceptance of the assigned accommodation.
The possibility of using accommodation service starts from 1 st of September 2024 or from the subscription date of accommodation contract if it is later than 1 st of September 2024.
As soon as the declaration is validated, you can take the keys at Reception Office of the neighbourhood from 9 am to 1 am from Monday to Friday. Upon getting the keys, the contract will be registered and you may view it in your personal area on the portal.

University pays special attention to the quality and variety of menu in the canteens that are open to all the students.
Canteen service is available from the 1 st of September 2024 by using the app mobile Unical Life.
Tariffs vary according to the student’s economic condition.
If you are scholarship recipient you may automatically access to canteen service without apply another specific request.
On the contrary, you have to request canteen service on the CR web site (https://soscr.unical.it) or by the app Unical Life.

The grant can be paid by bank transfer on an Italian bank account or prepaid card in the student’s name.
Remember to communicate a national IBAN in your name on the Esse3 platform (https://unical.esse3.cineca.it), following the steps below.

1. Access the Reserved Area;
2. follow the path Home → Personal data;
3. click on the “Edit Refund Data” link;
4. from the drop-down menu choose “Bank Transfer Refund”;
5. fill out all the required mandatory data.
 

If you are a first-year student you must be aware that scholarship payment depends on the achievement of 20 CFU at least (merit requirement) as shown in the following table.

For the successive years students the payment will be done in two instalments. The former within the 31st of December 2024, the latter within the 30th of June 2025.
