Carmine Rocca is Tenure track type B Assistant Professor in Physiology, University of Calabria (UNICAL). He received:

- the Ph.D. in “Life Science” (Cardiovascular Physiology) at UNICAL; 

- the International Ph.D. in “Clinical Biology” at French National Institute of Health and Medical Research INSERM U1239, Unit of Neuronal and Neuroendocrine Differentiation and Communication, University of Rouen Normandy, France; 

- the Residency in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry (Summa cum laude) at UNICAL; 

- the National Scientific Habilitation (ASN) for Associate Professor in Physiology.

His research activity at the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Cardiovascular Physiology and Pathophysiology (Operational Unit of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Research, INRC) is mainly focused on cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology and on systemic and cardiac metabolism at molecular, cellular, tissue and organ levels. The research aims to clarify in physiological and small preclinical models the physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the action of endogenous and exogenous agents, as cardiovascular and/or metabolic regulators and potential cardioprotective targets for the prevention and treatment of cardiac dysfunction secondary to myocardial ischemia, ischemia/reperfusion injury, neurohormonal overstimulation, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, and chemotherapy.

C. Rocca is Executive Board Member of the Scientific Board of the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Research (SIRC) and member of the Italian Physiological Society (SIF) and the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR) . He holds an international patent (Pub. No.: WO/2019/068682), he is Handling Editor for Journal of Translational Medicine, section Cardiovascular, Metabolic and Lipoprotein Translation, Review Editor for Frontiers in Endocrinology-Molecular and Structural Endocrinology, Frontiers in Physiology-Cardiovascular Biologics and Regenerative Medicine, Frontiers in Physiology-Cellular Neurophysiology, Frontiers in Physiology-Oxidant Physiology, Frontiers in Physiology-Vascular Physiology, Guest Editor for JoVE Methods Collection (section: Cardiology), Editorial Board member of Journal of Biological Regulators and Homeostatic Agents.

To date (March, 2025) C. Rocca is co-author of 45 full papers on International peer review Journals (of which N. 23 as first/co-first author and N. 11 as corresponding/co-corresponding author), and ~ 70 Proceedings and participations in congresses.
