Sergio SANTORO is a researcher (with tenure track) at the University of Calabria (UNICAL, Italy) with a MSc (with honours) in Material Science at the University of Calabria and a PhD in “Erasmus Mundus Doctorate in Membrane Engineering (EUDIME)” at the Nova University of Lisbon (Portugal) in cotutelle with UNICAL (Italy) and the University of Zaragoza (Spain). He has been worked from 2011 to 2012 at Institute on Membrane Technology – National Research Council of Italy (ITM-CNR) (Italy) as research fellow involved in projects funded by EU and from 2016 to 2019 in a private company (SAES Group, Italy) as researcher focused on the development of functional materials from the concept evaluation to the scale up. His research expertise includes the development and the characterization of innovative materials based on the dispersion of nanotechnologies into polymeric formulations and their application in advances membrane process and food packaging. He has participated in different projects supported by international funding programs, namely ExtraSea (ERANETMED), REMIND (MSACA-RISE), CapWa (FP7-NMP), EXBRINER (Horizon EU), MEASURED (Horizon EU), DoubleNanoMem (FP7-NMP), BIOPURE (Horizon EU), MEMCAT (Horizon EU). Co-author of +40 papers on peer-reviewed international journals, 9 book chapters, +40 publications in congress proceedings (2 awards as best presentation, 3 invited talk). Co-inventor of 1 patent. Co-founder of Reborn Fibers, a start-up company. Member of Seligenda Membrane Technologies Srl, a spin-off company of UNICAL and CNR
